Data Collection Policy
Field by field: exactly what we ask for and precisely why.
This policy sets out, field by field, what the sweepstakes entry form collects and why each item is needed. It supplements the Privacy Policy, which describes how the information is handled once collected.
We ask for the minimum needed to run a lawful sweepstakes. Every field below has an operational or legal reason to exist. If a field could be removed without breaking eligibility, contact or prize delivery, it would be.
Full name
Used to identify a winner and to address prize correspondence and delivery. A drawing that cannot name its winner cannot award a prize.
Email address
The primary way we contact you. Used to confirm your entry and to notify you if you win. Also used to enforce the limit of one entry per person per calendar day, by treating repeat entries from the same address as the same person.
If you ticked the marketing box, it is also used to send marketing email. That use is separate and optional.
Phone number
Used as a secondary way to reach a winner, because prize claims are time-limited and an unanswered email can cost someone a prize.
If you ticked the text messaging box, it is also used to send marketing texts. That use is separate and optional, is not a condition of entry or of winning, and can be stopped at any time by replying STOP.
Date of birth
Used to confirm that you meet the minimum age of 21 required by the Official Rules. It is checked when you enter and again when the entry reaches our server, so an entry that does not meet the age requirement is never accepted.
We ask for a date of birth rather than only a tick box because a tick box is not a record of age, and the age limit here is a legal requirement rather than a preference.
ZIP code
Used to confirm eligibility to enter, to establish which state's rules apply to a winner, and to arrange prize delivery.
Consents and confirmations
We record that you agreed to the Official Rules and the time you agreed, that you confirmed you are 21 or older, and whether you asked to receive marketing email or texts.
These are stored as part of the entry because they are the record that consent was given. Recording when consent was given is what makes it possible to demonstrate later that it was.
Which page you entered from, and when
Each entry records the store page it came from and the date it was submitted. This determines which drawing you are entered into, and enforces the one-entry-per-day limit.
What we do not ask for
We do not ask for a physical street address at entry. We collect a delivery address from a winner at the point a prize is awarded, so that the great majority of entrants who do not win never hand one over.
We do not ask for payment details. There is nothing to pay: no purchase is necessary to enter or to win.
We do not ask for a government identification number.
